    Ball 1858 Remington revolver cylinders

Didn't the late (Tom Ball)? make a cylinder for the 1858 Remington that would shoot a modern 45 long colt round? Does anyone else produce a cylinder that would shoot a modern round? Thanks burnie

  2. There are a number of "conversion" Cylinders on the market commercially. I have seen them in several places.

I think Tom did make a few of these that he fitted to his customized revolvers.

    R & D Conversion Cylinders for 1858 Remington.

Fall Creek Suttlery carries a blued, stainless, and blued with jewel turned engraved conversion cylinders for the Pietta and Uberti Remingtons. They are not cheap. They range from $240 to $290 in their 2009 catalog. You can access their website by going to links of interest in the NSSA directory webpage. The only advantage to buying a conversion cylinder is that there is no requirement for going through a FFL.

hey Burnie, Midway USA also sells them. I got one for my Rogers and Spenser. It cost about $200 and i had to wait a few months, it was a special order item. On the good side its lots of fun. its like having a new gun. The directions state You can shoot reduced cowboy action loads. I have only been shooting with black powder. its been fun working up different loads. I cant wait untill large pistol primers become more available. i miss taking it to the range. hope this helps
